The new CEO: Technology and Design at your service

Thauma's technological excellence and Pininfarina design in the world's first Digital Performance Intelligence assistant

If you share the sentiment of former American President Lyndon Johnson, who said, ‘The noblest search is the search for excellence,’ then you won’t be disappointed. It is precisely from this ideal that the meeting between Pininfarina, a symbol of Italian automotive design, and Thauma, the new digital ‘wonder,’ was born. In fact, in the philosophy of ancient Greece, ‘thauma’ meant the ‘wonder of knowledge.’

Two different stories, but absolutely complementary. On one side, a historical reality, always a symbol of innovation and Made in Italy. On the other, a new, modern company that has decided to acquire that unique style, envied and recognized worldwide, along with the opportunity to be a pioneer as the first work of app design for the legendary Piedmontese company.

The origins of Pininfarina and its journey between genius and innovation

Born in the thirties as a craft company by Battista Farina (known as ‘Pinin’ in honor of his father) to realize the automotive dreams of the Turin upper class, Pininfarina took its first steps by creating luxury bodies on commission.

The presentation of the Coupé Cisitalia 202 at the MOMA in New York in 1947 gained the brand international fame and recognition.

For the first time in history, the car is no longer just a technical project but a true work of art.

This event is the first through which Pininfarina will begin to make a mark on the market.

Between the fifties and seventies, the company began to stand out for high technological and engineering development, focusing strongly on the study of aerodynamics. Under the guidance of Sergio Farina, son of Pinin, the measurement and three-dimensional design center was opened at the new Grugliasco headquarters.

In 1971, the wind tunnel was inaugurated, the first in Italy on a 1:1 scale, used for the production of cars and still one of the few existing in the world today.

When you say Pininfarina, however, you think Ferrari.

“The successful collaboration with the ‘Cavallino’ brand has brought fame and international prestige to both houses. In cooperation, they have produced over a hundred cars in more than 65 years, an inseparable bond that continues to this day.

Among these, the most iconic is undoubtedly the Ferrari Modulo, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1970. A special, extreme, monovolume berlinetta. A unique dream car, still a symbol of modernity and out-of-the-box thinking in the world of traditional stylistic language.

The two overlapping shells of the Modulo have become a reference for Thauma’s design, symbolizing the intuition and modern world vision that our company shares with the Piedmontese partner.

Since then, Pininfarina has continued to be an innovative and transgenerational leader. The latest creation is Teorema, a concept car developed entirely through virtual reality technology. A new interpretation of mobility, fully electric and autonomous, with smart floors and glass to facilitate passenger interaction with the car and the external environment.

From this interest in User Experience, the collaboration with Thauma was born, facilitated by the support of an expert like Pietro Orciuolo, Chief Digital Officer of Corvallis. Entry into the world of digital applications is the natural evolution for those who have always been involved in bringing dreams to life.

A new application, Thauma, what is it, and what problem does it solve?

In a corporate world that is becoming increasingly complex, where it is particularly difficult to have total control over activities, simplifying procedures by adopting digital transformation has become a priority.

Today, the fundamental pillar for any minimally structured company is the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), a suite of software capable of managing all business processes, from accounting to sales, production to logistics, etc.

For companies, the ERP has become essential. Choosing whether to implement one, why an existing one must be changed, or switching to a new one can be an extremely critical experience for the company.

However, the ERP deals with business management, not governance. It is a ‘tactical’ system, not ‘strategic.’ It manages actions, not goals and action plans to achieve them. This means that to govern a company, a different support is needed from the ERP, and it needs to communicate with the ERP because the ERP needs to be directed and aligned.

It is in this context that Thauma is born, the first digital assistant to support CEOs who want to make decisions more quickly after defining business objectives and understanding if and how these can be achieved by business processes.

In Italy, those at the helm of an SME, which constitutes 99% of our country’s companies, are literally immersed in the difficulties that Thauma aims to solve.

A true digital wonder born from the experience of Massimiliano Oleotto, a prominent Process Manager in Italy, also the author of very explanatory titles such as ‘ The implementation of ERP and its brothers in SMEs: how to avoid disasters in the company’ and ‘The map of operational processes in SMEs: how to avoid getting lost in the company.’

We discussed business processes and ERPs more concretely in *this* article.

Thauma is a virtual butler, supporting governance, and provides a 360-degree view of everything happening in the company.”

All of this is possible through the Digital Twin, which is a digital copy of the company.

Thauma, through access to its PMS (Performance Measurement System), provides the most important KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for governance: it calculates them in real-time and displays them with simple and intuitive dashboards. It’s constant monitoring that aids CEOs in decision-making.

The technological ‘magic’ is guaranteed by the expertise of its partners:

This is a pool of absolute-level competencies offered daily to those who have chosen Thauma.

The connection with Pininfarina, the meeting of excellences

The goal is to pave the way for CEOs toward business improvement, and to do this, Thauma has decided to associate its brand with a unique and envied brand worldwide.

The presence of a partner like Pininfarina (whose motto is “We Move Dreams”) allows Thauma to do it in the best way. Born in a period when companies that make up the Italian economic fabric are seeking support, Thauma aims to be a guide towards the realization of their dreams.

The meeting between the technological excellence provided by Thauma and the design created by the Turin-based company provides CEOs with a tool as powerful as it is easy to use.

From car bodies to digital design, Pininfarina’s first app-shaped product follows the trend of projects of absolute thickness and high technological innovation to which it has accustomed us.

Thauma will be the machine that guides business leaders into the future.
